When you get assigned a task as a secret shopper, it's ideal if you can line up similar work for other clients on the same day. This way, instead of visiting the mall to evaluate the situation at one store and then return home, you can go from store to store to assess each of them. Afterward, you can compile your findings and share them with the appropriate parties. If you've lined up several secret shopper jobs on the same day, it's a good idea to keep a cheat sheet for each job. On it, you'll list the objectives and other information. Here are some reasons that this resource will be useful.

Remembering What To Evaluate

Different store managers hire secret shoppers for different reasons. For example, one manager might primarily want you to evaluate his or her staff, while another may be more curious about how much inventory is on the shelves toward the end of the day. Keeping a cheat sheet will help you to remember what to evaluate at each retail location. The last thing that you want is to focus on one store's staff, when you should've been focusing on the inventory.

Listing Specific Topics

Sometimes, a manager will want you to cover a variety of scenarios when you're a secret shopper. For example, there might be a to-do list that involves asking a few specific questions to a salesperson, inquiring about ordering a product, and so on. It can potentially be challenging to remember all of these questions and topics, especially if you're visiting a number of retail locations back to back. Listing these topics on your cheat sheet and then glancing at them before you enter the store will help you to be thorough. Otherwise, you might fail to cover a specific topic during a visit, and need to return later on, which might seem awkward.

Noting The Order

It's possible that you'll need to visit different stores at different times. For example, one manager might want you checking out his or her staff during a specific shift. It will be useful to list the order of the stores that you plan to visit in your cheat sheet. Otherwise, it could be easy to confuse the desired order, and end up evaluating the staff at a store at the incorrect time. This risk is higher if you're performing a number of sequential secret shopper assignments.
